Accessibility.

We want everyone to be able to use this site. This page says what it does to help, what we know is not perfect yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

Motion

  • If your system asks for reduced motion, nothing on the site moves: no animation, no cursor effects, and no 3D scene. Each part of the home page shows a still picture of its scene instead. Colour and opacity fades are the only changes.
  • The "Pause motion" switch in the header stops every animation and effect on the page, including the 3D scene, which then changes only as you scroll, and the hover effects. With the switch on when a page loads, the home page shows its still pictures. The choice is kept in your browser's local storage so it holds across pages.
  • The home page's 3D scene starts only after the page has loaded, and only on devices that can run it smoothly; it lowers its own detail if frames slow down. With data saving on, or on devices with little memory, you get the still pictures.
  • Nothing flashes, and nothing scrolls the page for you. Scrolling is always your browser's own.

Keyboard

  • Everything can be reached and used with a keyboard. Focus is shown with a blue ring.
  • A "Skip to content" link is the first thing on every page.
  • The command palette opens with Ctrl K or ⌘K, and ? lists every shortcut. Dialogs trap focus while open, close on Esc, and return focus to where you were.

Without JavaScript

Every page is complete and every link works with JavaScript turned off. Forms submit the ordinary way. The only things that need scripts are conveniences such as the copy-email button and the live clock, and they stay hidden until they can work.

Text and contrast

  • Text and interface colours meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast on the dark background, including over the 3D scene and its still pictures (checked against the rendered pixels).
  • Text can be resized to 200% without loss of content.
  • Decorative animations, illustrations and the 3D scene are hidden from assistive technology; every part of the home page is real text.

Known limits

  • When "Pause motion" is on, a fresh page can show a few frames of animation before the saved choice is applied. If your system asks for reduced motion, that does not happen.
  • Without JavaScript the "Pause motion" switch works on the page you are on, but the choice cannot be carried to the next page, so each page starts playing. Reduced motion covers that case fully.
  • Firefox does not run the scroll-linked title effects or page transitions; it gets the static versions.
